Is BART safe?

Have you been mugged, or known of people getting killed at BART station?

There are a number of troublesome station like Civic Center/UN Plaza, Mission, Oakland, Fruitvale, or Richmond where crimes frequently occur. Yes, there's BART police presence, but it doesn't stop the drug dealers at various San Francisco and Oakland stations, the armed robbers and burglars at Coliseum, West Oakland, Richmond, Pittsburg, and other stations, or the car thieves throughout the BART system.

BARTMusing calls for more police at certain stations, but the situation is that the 200+ BART police officer are not enough to cover the system, or protect the riders outside the immediate area outside the station.
